From the inside, the cabin is covered with multi-layer thermal noise insulation and vibration-absorbing mastic. The cab is equipped with a heater with a radiator connected to the engine cooling system. There is an emergency hatch on its roof. The cab is installed on the frame using two front articulated and two rear suspension supports with locking mechanisms. Articulated joints allow the cab to tilt forward. It is lifted by a reinforced hydraulic cylinder.

The protected multifunctional module is a frame-panel structure of the "kung" body type with rear hinged doors for entry and exit. It has observation windows with loopholes - three on the sides and two in the rear doors, two round escape hatches on the roof. Suspended trauma-saving seats are installed in the cabin of the module. It accommodates 14 soldiers with all equipment and personal weapons.

Both the kit and the module provide the necessary protection for the crew, personnel and stationed equipment, corresponding to the 5th class of protection GOST R 50963-96. They prevent them from being hit by 7.62-mm LPS steel-core bullets of the SVD Degtyarev sniper rifle, 7.62-mm PS steel bullets with a heat-reinforced steel core TUS to the AKM assault rifle from a distance of 5-10 m. In addition, they protect against high-explosive effects and fragments of hand-held anti-personnel grenades of the F-1 type and shock-distance RGO, including during ground detonation under the bottom of the car.

Modules MM-501 and MM-502 differ only in one size: their inner length is 4980 mm and 4440 mm, respectively. The module installation time on the KAMAZ cargo platform is 30 minutes.
